I Wish..

A Bird by Ivis M
I wish I was a bird
So my airline ticket could be free.
So that I can fly from the falling leaf on the west
to a blossomed tree on the east.
I wish I was a bird so that the south-easterly wind
can carry me through the land where there are blue cities,
green mountains and the scent of fresh mint.
I wish that I was a bird
So that I may rest my wings a top of the red canyon
where the sun melts away behind the hills.

One Bottle of Water @ a Time - Part 2

Love Above All Things by Ivis M

Delivery Update 6/6/02:
Done delivering 246 bottles of water in downtown Miami. So many smiles from complete strangers made my day.
Read this on a homless man's  t-shirt:
-Faith makes all things possible, LOVE makes all things easy-

I am not sure why someone would end up living in the streets, sleeping on cardboard boxes, with no shoes or shoes so worn out they do not have soles. I am not sure why they would wonder the streets day and night  hoping they will not end the night with empty stomachs and begging for water because there is never enough to quench their thirst. I do not understand how a pretty young girl would end up in the streets with eyes like zombie, stumbling from side to side holding on to anything she can find in order to avoid falling as, because of the drug she is on. I really do not know why mothers, children, fathers, grandfather, grandmothers, teenagers, friends, and neighbors end up sleeping under bridges, bushes or park benches.  I have a lot of questions to ask.  Some of them will go unanswered.

Just when you think you have it all figured out, something will shake you. Someone pulls the rug from under your feet. There, at that very moment you begin to figure it all out, again! We will never have it all figured out. Never have everything under control. We will continue to move, change and be tested. This is the way we learn, grow and make it better the next time around. Why some people make it through the changes better than others is what makes us all unique individuals. Perhaps lack of faith, hope, love and people to share those things with are a factor in how some of us manage those moments in our lives. We will never know all the reasons why people do all the things they do, react the way the react, choose or not what what direction they want their lives to go. I do know that no one chooses to lead a life of suffering. We all seek to be nurtured from the day we are born. We all want to love and be loved because our creator IS LOVE and He created us in His image.

Song of Solomon 8:7Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned

1 Corinthians 13:13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 John 3:18
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

So when people ask if we are scared to deliver water to the homeless, I say NO. When they say things like "they can work and get it themselves," or classify people by their race, age, or gender as undeserving of any charity. I say to them, you do not know love. Just when you think you have it all figured out, something will shake you and perhaps one day you too might thirst. You too might feel hungry and God will find the way to feed you and give you to drink.

We have given a total of 586 bottles of water so far.

Thanks to all of you that are giving water!

Your friend,

Ivis M :)
