Re: Immigrant Mentality

Jary,
I loved your post about being an immigrant and I agree that for the most part people do not care to know your roots, your history or what culture has defined you and given you your special flavor. This reminds me once again of my immigrant status on this earth. I was born in Cuba and then moved to the United States when I was 4. I have heritage in Spain and part of my heart belongs to Morocco and other places I have been. To all these I am considered an immigrant. To some I have been a resident alien. But I have only one permanent Citizenship and this place lays above all the ones I have been to. It is the place of my origin, where  my flavor, and my essence comes from. Where my past, my present and my future lays. I am a permanent citizen of heaven.

What it is crazy and sad is that in my earthy residence there are people trying to make us forget, regret and give up our citizenship. We are letting people get away with taking God out of schools, government, and even churches then when tragedy strikes and people do bad things to other people we ask where God is. This is what happens when you forget where and whom you came from.

My point in relations to your blog is that we must never allow others to change who we are, our history, our essence, our flavor, and our citizen status just because it is convenient. Who cares what others think, or what they want us to be. We are who God created us to be, amazing resident aliens of this world , we are the salt that give the flavor. We are to respect and love one another and plant the seed of hope and love in each and everyone we encounter

We shall always remember our permanent residence and rest assure knowing that one day soon we will return.

"The alien who resides among you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God." From the New Testament Letter to the Hebrews we hear, "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing so some have entertained angels unawares."

Thanks sister for your inspiring words.

Ivis

  1. I love the thought of being a citizen of heaven with a temporary greencard of the earth. You are very blessed to have memories of your roots. being the first generation born "en la yuma" I am of an undefined nationality that I love to call CUBAN AMERICAN. With a langueage all of our own "Spanglish" I dream of the day I can visit my roots, to see all the mosquitoes that my grandfather swears "no pican" and see with my eyes the beaches that my family swears are the most beautiful in the world. To smell the air of a land that is soooo close yet so very far. Although I feel blessed and thankful to my AMAZING country for having welcomed my family to all the possibilities and opportunities we have been given. I have a longing to see where I came from to have a sense of completeness. Until then it will be dominoes, cafe and mucha salsa in the Medina house..... Ya viene llegando!!!!!!!!!!!
