4000 Readers Celebrations!!

-You are the cure to everything that hurts.
I thirst.
There is a drought in my heart
although outside it's pouring rain.
I bleed red,
the color of a rose
that represent suffering and pain.
A suffering that is as painful as it is beautiful.
The streets are filled with people wondering.
My bed lays underneath the gray-brick rainbow with
blankets of cardboard boxes.
I feel so alone walking in the shadow of what
I use to dream I would be.
I thirst, yet no one gives me to drink-

...I was suppose to write something about myself in celebration of our 4000 readers but I came down with writers block instead. I was thinking about my summer giving back program and came up with the poem above. Last winter I began a blanket collection for the homeless and less fortunate and this week I began a "One gallon of water at a time" water collection for the less fortunate in Miami. Its 90 degree's out and we are still in spring. I was thinking about all those people I met during the winter that begged us for water. When we asked what it is that they needed the most, the all said water for drinking, bathing, brushing their teeth. Lots of people donate clothing, food, and sometimes offer them a warm stay in a shelter but water is never abundant. Yet, I know that I myself waste water. Sometimes I leave my plastic bottle of water in the car and end up throwing it away because someone, somewhere said that the hot temperatures in the car melt some of the plastic into the water and it can cause cancer. Then we have people in the streets drinking water and trying to find water by all means not contemplating how dirty or polluted it might be.

I guess that talking about ourselves is never an easy thing, at least not for me and my writing partner and sister Jarylen. I thought that a great way to celebrate with our blog readers our 4000 mark would be by letting you know a little about ourselves so that we can get to know each other better. But when I sat down my poem is all that came out. What better way to tell you about me then with my poetry. I saw a movie recently called "Poetry (Shi)" where the main actress-an elderly women- decides that she wants to learn how to write poetry. In her struggles to put her words and emotion on paper her teacher told her that we where all poets in our own way, but some of us have it trapped in our hearts and others have learned to let it go, to let it out. He said that the way to express it is best found when we look for the beauty in all thing. Most importantly in the things that are not so beautiful. There we should look to find beauty and that is how poetry and writing develop.

I can relate to his words because it was when I was searching for beauty when there was none, that I found my passion for writing and poetry. I began this blog  because I wanted to express beautiful emotions, love, peace, hope and all those things that most of us feel but perhaps do not know how to release. When describing myself to you, I would say that I am art. I love all that is art. Music, painting, writing, photography, movies, creation-the ocean, people etc. We are all a work of art. I see things a little different than most. I notice the less obvious things about people and nature. I am very passionate about everything I do and that is not always a forte, but it helps me be who I am. If there was one word that I could use to describe who I am it is Love (and sometimes crazy :) ok thats two words :). I love love, and I mean love when I say it and feel it. Love is me because it has different forms, and is limitless. There is no controlling love you can only tame it. Love is the greatest gift God has given us. He gave me  Jesus, the love of my life. This is me!

I am so excited about the 4000 reader mark. I never thought it would impact so many people. Here we are and I want to thank each one of you for sharing the Oasis of Good News with me and my beautiful sister Jarylen. She is inspiration, friendship, sisterhood, wisdom, and love all wrapped up in one.
